WORK IN PROGRESS
* Kindling the Creative Spirit in All
Since October 2003, local emerging and established artists have had the opportunity to exhibit work on OPEN WALLS in the historic 1100 Broadway Building at the corner of Jones Avenue.
The concept has evolved the last fifteen years into the ArtistsWithAMission Collaborative, coordinated by local artist Kat Gambs, who is ready to share her vision with any creative type who expresses interest in being an artist, in whatever form. She considers herself first and foremost an art educator so anyone walking up the 21 steps to the second floor studio/exhibit space enters what she considers "a lofty alternative art space, located somewhere between Neverland and Wonderland".
As an art educator Kat knows the importance of an artist hanging work in front of an audience. Open Walls funded by her KatsMeows businesses are made available to both emerging and established artists on a regular basis.
AWAM is not, will never be, a 501c3. Rather, the creative energy generated by those involved in the collective group will develop events and projects to support established missions and ministries throughout the world.
Kat invites other creative types to collaborate with her on exhibits, individual projects and new ideas. She loves to "synergize" and intends to focus the rest of her life on causes, with others with a similar vision, that will support: HEALTH, EDUCATION, KINDLING THE CREATIVE SPIRIT . . . AQUI, ALLI, ALLA.
